St Helens College 14-16 Academy provides you with access to vocational specialists; people with expert knowledge and experience who are passionate about their industry.

Breakfast club

St Helens College 14-16 Academy will be open to students from 8am; all students will be provided with a free breakfast every weekday. You can choose from toast, cereal or porridge and a drink. You can arrive early, socialise with your friends and enjoy your breakfast. 


A free Arriva bus pass will be available to all St Helens College 14-16 Academy students. 

Student support 

You will have a dedicated progress coach who will work closely with you to ensure you are provided with appropriate support both in and out of the classroom. This will include support with issues that might affect your attendance, punctuality, learning and development. Your coach will help you to consider and plan your future progression.

Dress code

St Helens College 14-16 Academy dress code is smart business attire which reflects the hard work, commitment and professionalism of St Helens College 14-16 Academy students. The uniform entails: 

  • Embroidered business suit (boys) with the option of trousers or skirt (girls)
  • White collared shirt (boys) or white collared blouse (girls)
  • St Helens College 14-16 Academy branded tie
  • Appropriate smart business footwear

For sport and enrichment activities only, St Helens College 14-16 Academy students will wear a polo shirt, sports shorts/tracksuit bottoms/sports leggings (navy or black only) and trainers. More details will be given on enrolment.

Typical school day

You will be able to eat your free breakfast from 8am in the food court, with the school day starting at 8.30am and finishing at 3.30pm, Monday to Thursday and finishing at 1.20pm on Friday.

However, due to enrichment opportunities on Tuesday and Thursday, you’ll finish at 4.15pm. Lunch breaks are usually taken between 12.20pm and 2.20pm.

Break time

There will be vending facilities provided within the social areas, hot and cold drinks and snacks will be available.

Lunch time

Lunch will be available each day; it will be served in the food court in the college building adjacent to St Helens College 14-16 Academy. There is a dedicated seating area for St Helens College 14-16 Academy students. A range
of hot and cold meals, sandwiches and snacks are available from the food court. You will be supervised throughout lunchtime. Students who are entitled to a free school lunch will be provided with one. If you wish to bring your own
lunch, you may eat within St Helens College 14-16 Academy social areas.
