If you're interested in applying to us through Clearing, call us straight away on 0800 027 1221.

What is clearing?

Clearing is another opportunity for you to secure a place on your chosen degree course at university this September.

You will be able to apply through Clearing if you:

  • Have not done quite as well as you expected, meaning you do not meet the conditions of entry for either your firm or insurance choice
  • Have not made a UCAS application to study at any Higher Education institution this year
  • If you haven't received any offers or have not accepted any offers
  • Your place was not confirmed at your firm and insurance choice universities
  • Are looking to leave another university completely and transfer to University Centre St Helens

When is Clearing?

Clearing opened on Sunday 1st July for those who already have exam results or hold no offers.

For everyone else, Clearing officially opens on results day, Thursday 16th August.

Clearing closes mid-September 2018.

As clearing is now open, you can call our Admissions team, who will guide you through the process, helping you to submit your application to us for September 2018 entry. Our Admissions department is open Monday to Thursday 8.45am – 5.00pm and Fridays 8.45am – 4.30pm in the run up to A level results day with extra times after this date.

For more information and advice on Clearing please visit the UCAS website.

Already applied through UCAS?

If you have applied already to study at university you can check UCAS Track to see if you are eligible for Clearing. UCAS will not send you anything in the post to tell you if you are eligible, so it is important that you check online.

If you are eligible for Clearing an 'Add Clearing choice' button will appear on your ‘Track choices' screen, which you can use to apply for a place at University Centre St Helens.

Not yet applied through UCAS?

If you haven't applied to UCAS for a university place at all this year, call us straight away to secure your place.

My Clearing Experience

Hannah McCormick

Hannah McCormick,
FdA Criminal Justice

“I joined the Foundation degree in Criminal Justice at University Centre St Helens through clearing in 2016 after struggling with my first year at a large university in Manchester. Following my initial call to University Centre St Helens’ Clearing hotline, I quickly met with the Programme Leader for Criminal Justice and was subsequently offered a place.”

Speaking about her experience, Hannah said:

“I would recommend staying at home and commuting to a local university to everyone. As a College or Sixth Form student, it is very easy to feel that you have to move away and go to a big university. That is what I did but I now realise that it was not right for me. Staying local to study for my degree is the best decision I’ve made.”
