We realise Clearing can be quite stressful but don’t worry; our team is on hand to advise and guide you through the process and ensure you find a place on an undergraduate degree course that is right for you.

If you're interested in applying to us through Clearing, call us straight away on 0800 027 1221.

What is clearing?

Clearing is another opportunity for you to secure your place at university this September.

You will be able to apply through Clearing if you:

  • haven't done quite as well as you expected and you haven't met the conditions of your offers
  • haven't made a UCAS application to study at University this year
  • if you haven't received any offers (or none that you wanted to accept).
  • your place was not confirmed at your firm and insurance choice universities
  • or are looking to transfer to us from another university

When is Clearing?

  • Clearing opens Wednesday 5 July for those who already have exam results or hold no offers.
  • Clearing officially opens on results day, Thursday 17th August
  • Clearing closes on Wednesday 20 September.

When Clearing opens you will be able to call our Clearing hotline to speak with our Admissions team about the process and your application to study with us this September. Our Admissions department is open Monday to Thursday 8.45am – 5.00pm and Fridays 9.00am – 4.30pm in the run up to A level results day with extra times after this date.

For more information and advice on Clearing please visit the UCAS website.

Already applied through UCAS?

  • If you have applied already to a University you can check UCAS Track to see if you're eligible for Clearing. UCAS will not send you anything in the post to tell you if you are eligible, so it is important that you check online.
  • If you are eligible for Clearing an 'Add Clearing choice' button will appear on your Track 'choices' screen, which you can use to accept a place on a course you have been offered through Clearing.

Not yet applied through UCAS?

If you haven't applied to UCAS for a university place at all this year, call us straight away to secure your place.

My Clearing experience

Hannah McCormick“I joined the foundation degree in Criminal Justice at University Centre St Helens through clearing in 2016 after struggling in my first year at a large university in Manchester. Following my initial call to University Centre St Helens’ Clearing line to study the foundation degree in Criminal Justice I quickly met with the programme leader for the course who offered me a place.”

Speaking of why others should give some serious thought about staying at home to study for their degree Hannah says, “Definitely do it. Sometimes it’s so easy to get swept along with going to a big university, which I did. But changing my mind and staying local to study is the best decision I’ve made. I’ve passed my first year with great grades. I am so proud of myself and glad that I am making my family proud!”
