Our entry level 2 Foundation Academy students have teamed up with our catering and horticulture department to turn a patch of land at St Helens College into a beautiful herb garden.

The students, supported by their Learner Support Officer, Michele Antrobus and the horticulture department, renovated a raised bed, removing all shrubbery and weeds to ensure the area was in perfect condition for growing seeds before planting a wide range of herbs including; basil, dill, mint, rosemary and many more. To gain access to both sides of the beds, a central pathway was installed by the students with the help of our tutors.

The garden has now been formally handed over to the catering department, with the herbs to be used in delicious dishes at our award-winning fine dining restaurant, Colours Restaurant, and our very own student dining facility, The Atrium.

Huge well done to all of our students involved and we hope everyone enjoys the home grown herbs from our garden.
