Student President ResizedAt the age of just sixteen, independent Teni Ajasa-Osayemi has found success in the recent student election when she was voted as President of the Student Council at St Helens College.

Teni, from Liverpool, applied for the role after discovering a love for Business after joining the level 2 NCFE Diploma in Business which she began this September after completing her GCSEs at Broughton Hall High School.

Following some fierce competition, Teni’s confidence was boosted when elected after delivering a speech in front of other applicants and judges. Speaking of her success, she said “I loved being chosen for the role, I am really enjoying it so far as it is teaching me key skills needed for my dream career. It is my proudest achievement at St Helens College so far.”

The role of Student President involves attending monthly meetings acting as the student voice, raising issues and feedback gathered from other students enabling the college to improve. Teni has already ensured that there are sufficient printer facilities in all buildings for student use and is enjoying making a difference to student life at St Helens College. As well as this, Teni is also the elected Student Govenor for 2017/18.

During her studies, Teni has discovered a passion for Communication and believes that her current course will be key to helping her gain employment in her dream career in HR and Management. She said “I have always been an independent person and the Business course at St Helens College enables me to utilise that skill and keeps me focused. The tutors are very understanding and motivate me to achieve a high grade. I would highly recommend this course to anyone in the same mindset as mine”.

Teni is really looking forward to getting stuck in to the role and voicing her opinions to make St Helens College the best it can be. With big aspirations for her future, Teni hopes to progress onto University to study a HR and Management degree.
