In support of National Apprenticeship Week 2018, St Helens College is celebrating the outstanding successes of its current apprentices, promoting apprenticeship opportunities to young people and showcasing how ‘Apprenticeships Work’ for employers.

A whole host of exciting and informative activities will take place throughout the week, from 5th March to 9th March, with Civil Service Apprentice, Nathan Holland, Dental Nurse Apprentice, Faye Boland, Painter and Decorator Apprentice, Adam Knowles and IT Apprentice, Matthew Burton, featuring across the College’s social media platforms, to encourage others to follow in their footsteps and choose an apprenticeship.

St Helens College will also be sharing a series of insightful employer blogs, case studies and positive stories as a great example of how ‘Apprenticeships Work’ for employers. Keep up-to-date with the latest employer apprenticeship information in our employer section.

St Helens College currently offers apprenticeships in over 20 different sectors, ranging from engineering, life sciences and health to business, logistics and computing, and has over 700 apprentices with high profile employers; including Thermo Fisher Scientific, Pilkington Family Trust and Bagnalls Painting and Decorating. The Apprenticeships Team are busy visiting Calderstones High School, St Marys and St Thomas Primary School, Byrchall High School and Rosebridge Academy today, to host apprenticeship assemblies and drop-in sessions and attend career aspirations events and fairs.

The Apprenticeships Team take to the sea to host interview sessions for live SMART Meter apprenticeship vacancies. They’ll spend the day on a Class A Tall Ship berthed in the Albert Dock in Liverpool!

We are also visiting The Prescot School and Calderstones High School for a year 11 apprenticeship focused assembly and apprenticeship drop-in sessions.

For those of you aged 16-18, that have already applied to study at St Helens College, don’t forget it’s our Introduce Yourself Interview Event on Wednesday 7th March 2018, from 4.00pm at our Town Centre Campus too. During the event, we will be delivering an apprenticeship parent information session to promote a wide range of apprenticeship opportunities.

St Helens College is hosting an Employer Lunch with current St Helens College students, designed to inform aspiring apprentices about apprenticeships in the workplace and the key traits they look for when looking through applications. Free pizza will be available too!

The Apprenticeships Team are visiting St Edmund Arrowsmith in Whiston today to provide apprenticeship information to pupils and parents at their careers fair.

The last event of the week, will take place at Halewood Academy, where the Apprenticeships Team will be presenting an apprenticeship assembly to year 11 students.

They will also be hosting an apprenticeship information session at the JobCentre Plus in St Helens, to inform those interested in apprenticeship about current vacancies, how to apply and the benefits of choosing an apprenticeship.
