LoisThere were lots of happy and smiling faces this week as students collected their GCSE English and maths results. Lots of students achieved a grade 4 or above, with many achieving grade 5, 6 and 7.

Aspiring computer programmer, Louis, was celebrating after improving his grade 3, gained at high school, to an impressive grade 5 in his GCSE English exam.

Louis, currently studying the level 3 Diploma in Information Technology said, "I am so proud of my result, especially considering how much I have improved. I struggled with the English exam, despite how much I had prepared for it, so the support from the tutors has really made all the difference!"

Now that Louis has achieved his GCSE grade 5, he is hoping to progress to the Extended Diploma in IT in September.

Another delighted student, Georgia, was left feeling "ecstatic" with her result after achieving a grade 4 in her GCSE maths exam.

GeorgiaThe aspiring nurse said, "This was my third attempt and I have worked so incredibly hard to achieve this grade so that I can progress on to the next level of study. I attended evening and morning revision classes and had a maths tutor supporting me in my spare time."

With her new grade, Georgia is hoping to progress to the level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care this September and has her heart set on becoming a nurse.

Adult student, Catherine, is celebrating after achieving a grade 4 in her GCSE maths exam and is now looking forward to completing her Foundation Degree in Early Years at University Centre St Helens.

CatherineShe said, “I was really worried about my maths exams as I hadn’t studied maths since I left school, and had to revise around studying for my degree, but the tutors were really helpful and gave me a lot of support. I am now looking forward to completing my degree and graduating!”
