Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

If you have an area of interest that you would like to pursue, and if you would like to extend and develop the crucial academic skills of research and analysis to boost your university study skills, the EPQ could be an excellent choice.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

You will undertake the EPQ alongside additional A levels to enhance you skills and qualifications. This will take one year to complete.

What will I study?

You can negotiate your own topic with your tutor and choose from areas of academic interest, current affairs or something related to a personal interest.

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed via a dissertation, investigation, artefact or performance.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You will be invited to study the EPQ depending on your skills and your dedication to your overall A levels.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2019), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. For more information, please visit our dedicated Financial Support page.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

All of our degrees at University Centre St Helens would welcome the skills gained from successful completion of the EPQ and the skills that you will have developed, are fully transferable to degrees in any discipline.
