Level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting
This part-time course is suitable for those who wish to develop both the theoretical knowledge and the practical skills needed to pursue a successful career or to progress onto further study in accounting. You will gain a broad and thorough introduction to accountancy whilst developing your skills in finance administration, bookkeeping and purchasing.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
The course has start dates in September and December, taking one year to complete. You will attend college for two sessions per week and could choose daytime, evening or a mix of sessions to suit you.
What will I study?
You will explore various aspects of accountancy to develop your skills and knowledge. The following areas will be covered:
- Bookkeeping transaction
- Bookkeeping controls
- Elements of costing
- Working effectively in finance
- Using accounting software
How is it assessed?
The course is assessed through computer based assessments at the end of each unit. You will also undertake an end of year synoptic test once all units have been completed.
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
You must have achieved GCSEs at grade C or above in English and maths, or the equivalent.
What are the course fees?
Course fees are dependent on your personal circumstances and you may be eligible for funding. For more information, please click here. In addition to the course fees you will also need to pay an exam fee.
AAT membership fees are payable to the awarding body, and are not included in the course costs.
What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
Upon successful completion of this course you may wish to progress onto further study by completing our Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting. Alternatively you may wish to seek out employment within entry level accountancy roles.
