Level 4 AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting

AAT is the world's leading professional membership body for accounting technicians, with over 100,000 members worldwide. It is the UK's largest awarding body of skills-based qualifications in accounting.

The level 4 AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting builds on the topics covered in the Level 3 AAT Diploma in Accounting, and extends on the areas covered to the completion of final accounts.

The course is designed to provide the maximum flexibility to students from a wide range of circumstances and diverse backgrounds, allowing them to gain skills and knowledge based on nationally agreed standards of competence.

The course is ideal for those who wish to pursue a career in accounting and looking to expand on their existing financial and management skills. You will build on your knowledge of financial statements for limited companies, complex management accounting tasks and other areas of accountancy.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course starts in September.

You will attend College on Wednesday from 9.30am - 4.30pm or Tuesday and Wednesday from 6.00pm - 9.00pm for one year.

The course takes place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, St Helens WA10 1PP.

What will I study?

You will explore various aspects of accountancy to develop your skills and knowledge. The following areas will be covered:

  • Financial statements of limited companies
  • Management accounting budgeting
  • Management accounting decision and control
  • Accounting systems and controls
  • Personal tax
  • Credit management

You will study alongside like-minded people in classes delivered by friendly supportive tutors.

How is it assessed?

The course will be examined by computer based assessments for each of the first three units. The synoptic test will cover the first four units at the end of the course.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You must have successfully completed the Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon successful completion of this course you will become a qualified Accounting Technician and can go on to secure employment at managerial or supervisory levels. This qualification will also lead to exemptions with ACCA and CIMA and the non-graduate route to chartered accountancy.
