Introduction to Drawing and Painting Short Course

During this short course, you will be introduced to various approaches to drawing and painting. The course will help you to develop your observational skills, creative thinking, personal visual language and printing processes.

It's great for beginners but may also appeal to those who have some previous experience in art and design or art history.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has start dates throughout the year and will take 10 weeks to complete.

The course takes at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus.

What will I study?

Using a wide range of drawing media, we will look at approaches to objective/measured drawing and to the more exploratory uses of drawing and painting media. We will then develop your drawing and painting experiments into two small prints using relief printing or / and intaglio printing techniques.

How is it assessed?

There is no formal assessment. You will be given feedback based on your progress with suggestions and guidance for areas for improvement.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

There are no formal entry requirements. As with all our leisure courses the main emphasis is to come along and enjoy the course. All you need is commitment and enthusiasm.

What are the course fees?

The total cost of the course is £130.00. To secure your place, you can book and pay in our online shop. This is a full cost course meaning that there are no fee discounts available.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon completion of this course, you could choose to complete one of our many other art school short courses including short course in life drawing, photography ceramics or jewellery making.
