Jewellery Taster: Make a ring

Rings can be the most personal and valued piece of jewellery to wear. They can symbolise both friendship and love, suggesting why they are often sentimental to us. If you are interested in making a ring for a loved one, a friend or even as a keepsake for yourself then this course is perfect for you.

There is no need to worry if you have never been involved in jewellery making as this course is great for beginners however, you can still participate if you have had experience.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has various start dates throughout the year.

You will attend College for one day from 9.30am - 3.3.00pm.

The course will be held at St Helens College Town Centre Campus.

What will I study?

You will learn how to make a ring using professional techniques and look at different patterns and designs that you could use in your own creation. Experienced staff will also help you to make a ring that is fit to size to ensure that the finished product is personal to you. Your ring will have a professional finish as you will be shown how to polish your ring to give it a perfect shine.

Most of the day will be spent participating in practical work. You will also gain an insight into techniques used to make jewellery.

You will then get to take your ring home with you at the end of the day.

How is it assessed?

There is no formal assessment. You will be given feedback based on your progress with suggestions and guidance for areas for improvement.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

There are no formal entry requirements. As with all our leisure courses the main emphasis is to come along and enjoy the course. All you need is commitment and enthusiasm.

What are the course fees?
