Jewellery Taster: Setting a stone into a ring

The stone in a ring is the most extravagant and eye-catching part. The process of how these stones are set into the ring can be just as exciting as looking at the finished product. If you are interested in this process, then this course is perfect for you.

This course is great for beginners but could also interest those who have had previous experience in jewellery making.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has various start dates throughout the year.

You will attend College for one day from 9.30am - 3.00pm.

The course will be held at St Helens College Town Centre Campus.

What will I study?

In this course, you will explore the variety of stone setting techniques, but you will learn how to make a bezel setting for your ring. A selection of gemstones will be available on the day to choose from. You can either bring a ring that you made on the one day ring making course, or you can do a simple bezel setting for a pendant.

How is it assessed?

There is no formal assessment. You will be given feedback based on your progress with suggestions and guidance for areas for improvement.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

There are no formal entry requirements. As with all our leisure courses the main emphasis is to come along and enjoy the course. All you need is commitment and enthusiasm.

What are the course fees?

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
