Level 1 Award in Nail Treatments

This course is perfect for those looking to launch a career in nail treatments. It is designed to develop your practical skills in providing basic manicure and pedicure treatments whilst working towards a recognised qualification.

It is ideal for those with little or no experience and are looking take their first steps into the beauty industry to improve your chances of finding work, trying a potential new career or developing a new skill.

You will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety practices in a salon environment, along with client care and communication skills required for working within the beauty industry.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course starts on Thursday 22nd February 2018. You will attend College every Thursday from 9.30am - 12.30pm for 12 weeks.

What will I study?

You will gain a basic introduction to beauty therapy skills allowing the opportunity for further progression.

You will study the following units:

  • Providing basic manicure treatment
  • Providing basic pedicure treatment
  • Follow health and safety in the salon
  • Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
  • This course will also develop your interpersonal skills and improve your confidence.

You will study in The Lounge, our fully operational, commercial training salons and spa. Open to the public for services, it provides education and training for those wanting a career in the hair, beauty or spa industry, allowing students the opportunity to develop their skills through hands-on work experience. The Lounge offers state of the art facilities including hairdressing and beauty therapy salons, a nail bar, and a spray tanning room. The spa includes a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, floatation bed, monsoon shower, an ice fountain and individual therapy rooms.

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed through a series of practical observations. You will be fully supported by the course tutor.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

No formal qualifications are needed to begin this course.

What are the course fees?

Course fees are dependent on your personal circumstances and you may be eligible for funding to cover course fees.

You may be eligible to get up to 100% of your course fees covered if you are in receipt of a qualifying benefit.

If you are aged 19 or over and this is your first full level 1 qualification, 100% of your course fees will be covered. More information can be provided upon application.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon successful completion of this course you could choose to progress onto the level 2 in Nail Technology qualification to further develop your knowledge and skills.

The nail industry has increasingly become separate to beauty therapy as specialist nail salons become commonplace in the high street, providing excellent employment prospects.
