HNC Hair and Beauty Management

Our HNC Hair and Beauty Management qualification is designed for Hairdressers and Beauty Therapists who wish to build upon sector knowledge and enhance practical skills whilst learning the fundamentals of business and management relevant to the hair and beauty industry.

Whether you currently work in a hair or beauty salon, you dream of opening your own hair or beauty business, just want to progress in your career by reinforcing your experience with a qualification or want to work your way up to a management position then this HNC qualification if the perfect way to help you achieve your goals.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has start dates in January and September. Study is flexible and will take place one day per week on a Monday, taking two years to complete.

What will I study?

The HNC Hair and Beauty Management offers you the opportunity to study a range of disciplines connected to the industry. You will explore and develop your understanding and skills for managing a team of people, learn how to plan, implement and develop effective systems to improve your business. You will also develop confidence in dealing with financial processes within the hair and beauty sector.

The course has three pathways, based on your experience and qualifications. The routes available include hairdressing, beauty therapy or hair and beauty. The route in which you choose to undertake is mapped to your previous qualifications and experience. You will undertake optional modules specific to your route.

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed through a combination of written assignments, reflective writing, professional discussions and practical observations.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

To join this course you should possess a level 3 qualification in hairdressing or beauty therapy.

What are the course fees?

Tuition fees for this undergraduate qualification are £2,300 per annum for students enrolling within the 2016/17 academic year.

Tuition fees for this undergraduate qualification are £2,400 per annum for students enrolling within the 2017/18 academic year.

Alternatively, your employer may agree to cover the cost of this qualification.

Subject to eligibility, students can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan from the Government to cover the full cost of tuition fees. You may also be eligible to apply for additional funding to help with living costs.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

The HNC Hair and Beauty management will provide you with the skills demanded by industry. You may seek more senior roles within the hair and beauty industry. Or, you may decide to open up your own business. Additionally, you could choose to progress onto the HND Hair and Beauty Management.
