The administration of a business includes the performance or management of business operations and decision making, as well as the efficient organisation of people and other resources, to direct activities toward common goals and objectives.

The BA (Hons) Business Administration and Management (top-up) degree has been developed in close association with employers and professional bodies. It is designed for those who wish to continue their education and build upon the knowledge and understanding gained from HND or foundation degree study.

It aims to provide students with knowledge, understanding and transferable skills essential for leading and managing in their work environment in the future. This will lead to obtaining a full honours degree in Business Administration and Management.

Course in-depth

What will I study?

Year 1

This one-year course aims to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and transferable skills essential for leading and managing in the future work environment relevant to the performance of organisations in the 21st century. It will build on your prior knowledge and understanding gained in general business and management qualifications allowing you to gain graduate status. Your understanding and critical awareness of general management and administration and the role of managers, leaders and administrators in all types of organisations will be developed and explored.

The Learning Experience

Staff have extensive experience within a wide range of interests reflecting all areas of business, management and administration. The top-up degree will seriously enhance your employability with employers.

During the course of study, you will acquire the leadership, operational and administration skills you need for a truly successful management career in business.

How will I study?

Learning will be through theoretical concepts and discussion, supported by practical application to the business environment.

You will be supported by a range of resources including library materials and IT access. Additionally, you will have access to a Uni Hub, a dedicated learning environment for degree students.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will take place via summative assignments/reports. There are two components for each module equating to 4,000 words. The extended research project is 8,000 words.

Who will be teaching me?

An experienced team with a wide range of interests reflecting all areas of business, management and administration will work with you. Lecturers are active in research in their field and have experience of working in industry.
