OCR level 3 Diploma in Administration (Business Professional)

This advanced course is suitable for anyone wanting to work in a senior administrative role. It will help you to develop skills in planning both your own and other people's work, and also in communicating with colleagues at all levels.

You will develop the skills to work effectively and to carry out a range of complex administrative functions required in a business environment. You will also have the opportunity to learn the latest IT skills to a high standard.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

The course takes place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Understanding function and roles within the business organisation
  • Producing complex business documents
  • Recruitment and selection
  • Supporting business meetings
  • Organising a business event
  • Reviewing and developing office procedures
  • Carry out research and prepare a report
  • Legislation affecting organisations
  • Working in a team

There is also an opportunity to undertake a two-week work placement with a local employer. Your tutors will be able to support you to do this.

You will study alongside like-minded people in classes delivered by friendly supportive tutors.

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed by a range of different methods including observations, witness testimony, worksheets, assignments, projects, reports, discussions and verbal and written questioning.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have already completed NCFE level 2 / 3 Skills for Business, OCR level 2 Administration, NVQ Administration/ IT. You should also have five GCSEs at grade 4 (equivalent to grade C) or above.

What are the course fees?

If you are aged 19 or over, you could also choose to apply for a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees enabling you to study now, pay later. Loan eligibility isn't dependent on income or employment status and there is no credit check. Loan repayments don't start until you have finished your course and earn over £25,000 per year. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon completion of this course, you have the opportunity to progress onto an NVQ Level 4 in Administration or directly into employment in an administration role.

You will also be equipped to progress onto study at a higher level, for example a HNC/HND in Business at University Centre St Helens.
