Level 2 Diploma in Skills for Business

Whether you are interested in setting up your own business or developing skills that can be transferred to a wide range of careers, this course is a great first step to exploring the growing industry.

Develop your skills and knowledge in business principles, customer service and problem-solving to prepare you for the next level of study.

Previous students have gained behind the scenes access at Disneyland Paris, to attend an exclusive business conference, exploring what it takes to successfully run a global enterprise. They also visited major attractions in London and compete in the national BASE competition to develop key employability skills and to get a feel for accountancy.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Innovation in a business environment
  • Producing documents in a business environment
  • Communicating in a business environment
  • Solving problems and working with others in a business environment
  • Exploring business culture and responsibilities
  • Delivering customer service in a business environment
  • Managing and improving your own performance

There is also an opportunity to undertake a two-week work placement with a local employer. Your tutors will be able to support you to do this.

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed by a range of different methods such as observations, witness testimony, worksheets, assignments, projects, reports, discussions and verbal and written questioning.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have four GCSEs at grade 3 (equivalent to grade D) or above.

Achieving a good standard of English and maths is a key requirement for many jobs, as well as for courses you may wish to progress on to. If you achieve below a grade 4 in your English and/or maths GCSEs at school, you will study it alongside your chosen course when you join us.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2019), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have successfully com[eted this course, you will have the opportunity to progress on to the next level of study at level 3, developing your skills and knowledge at a more advanced level.

Alternatively, you may wish to complete an apprenticeship or enter the industry within a junior administration role.
