Thailand Taster Cookery Course

Thai cuisine places a real emphasis on lightly prepared dishes with strong aromatic components known for its balance of taste senses; sour; sweet; salty and bitter.

This one day stimulating course will develop your culinary flair and provide you with a selection of Thai recipes. The course allows participants to develop their culinary skills by experimenting with exceptional ingredients and quick methods to prepare and cook mouth-watering Thai dishes.

Whether you are an amateur cook or a food lover, on these enjoyable short cookery courses, you will be taught alongside likeminded people by passionate chefs with significant experience.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This one day taster will commence on Thursday 22nd March 2018. You will attend College for one week from 6.00pm - 9.00pm.

The course takes place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, St Helens WA10 1PP.

What will I study?

The cookery course will allow you to explore various ingredients and develop the basic craft skills of Thai cookery and encourage you to develop your own creative culinary ideas whilst using quality ingredients.

You will be presented with a range of recipes and some of the dishes may include:

  • Tom yum (hot & sour) soup
  • Thai green chicken curry
  • Thai fried rice with prawns & peas

Course participants will be able to develop their awareness of Health and Safety relating to the preparation of food, food safety awareness, practical knife skills and stove control, whilst learning logical and coherent methods for producing Thai dishes.

How is it assessed?

There is no formal assessment. You will be given feedback based on your progress with suggestions and guidance for areas for improvement. As with all our leisure courses the main emphasis is to come and enjoy.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

There are no formal entry requirements, as with all of our leisure cookery courses, the main emphasis is to come along and enjoy. The course is suitable for all levels of ability.

You will need to wear strong, flat sensible shoes and bring along an apron, tea towel, and an oven glove.

Please bring along a container to take what you have made home with you.

What are the course fees?

The total cost of this course is £30. The course price is inclusive of all of the ingredients that you will need. You can take home your creations to enjoy.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

You may wish to progress onto out other Colours Cookery School courses or alternatively you may wish to pursue an accredited qualification in this subject which will allow you to practice your skills in the trade.
