Level 2 Diploma in Plastering

This course takes your learning to the next level through enhancing your skills and knowledge of plastering within the construction industry.

You will learn how to complete a variety of detailed plastering tasks including repair work as well as developing your ability to interpret information by working out materials required and costings for a variety of projects.

As a trained plasterer you could work on housing sites, city developments, domestic extensions and conservatories, new work, conversions or repairs. You might want the security of site work or possibly branch out on your own, become self-employed and start your own business.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

For students aged 19 and above, you will attend College for two evenings per week from 6.00pm - 9.00pm.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Applying plaster materials to internal surfaces
  • Applying render materials to external surfaces
  • Drying lining and plasterboard products to interiors
  • Forming sand and cement screeds
  • Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
  • Producing and securing fibrous plaster components
  • Producing fibrous plaster components
  • Understanding construction technology
  • Understanding information, quantities and communication with others

In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to gain some work experience within the construction industry.

How is it assessed?

During this course, you'll be assessed by a range of online and practical assessments.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have successfully completed a level 1 plastering qualification and be on track to achieve grade 4 (equivalent to grade C) or above in English and maths.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2018), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. For more information, please click here.

However, if you are aged 19 or over, course fees are dependent on your personal circumstances and you may be eligible for funding to cover course fees. If you are aged 19-23 and this is your first full level 2 qualification, 100% of your course fees will be covered.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon successful completion of this course, you will have the necessary skills to progress on to an apprenticeship within the construction industry or alternatively, secure employment.
