Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production

Be creative! Write scripts and develop your ideas for videos and productions while exploring a wide range of media-based topics and concepts of theoretical media.

Based in our brand new £60,000 TV studio, green screen infinity cove and editing suites, you will develop your skills and knowledge using industry-standard equipment including video cameras, audio equipment, and editing software, Premier Pro.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

What will I study?

You will study a wide range of media-based topics which allows you to develop your creativity and technical skills including:

  • Pre-production, scripting, storyboarding and casting
  • Practical camera skills, soundtrack and editing post-production video editing using the latest Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
  • Factual/documentary television production
  • Photoshop/desktop based skills
  • Key concepts of theoretical media
  • TV Studio production with our new state-of-the-art studio

How is it assessed?

Creative Media at St Helens College is 100% digital. We work professionally via Office 365 implementing a variety of different assessment methods from written reports, production folders, scripts and final productions (video, web and print) to camera work.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have two GCSEs at grade 4 (equivalent to grade C) or above and two GCSEs at grade 3 (equivalent to grade D) or above.

Achieving a good standard of English and maths is a key requirement for many jobs, as well as for courses you may wish to progress on to. If you achieve below a grade 4 in your English and/or maths GCSEs at school, you will study it alongside your chosen course when you join us.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2019), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

This course is your first stepping stone to a fantastic and exciting career in the industry.

Upon completion, you will have the opportunity to progress on to the level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production to advance your skills and knowledge.
