Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science

If you're really passionate about a career in sport and are ready to work hard and train hard to achieve your goals, this highly specialised course will get you where you want to go.

You'll be training to improve your fitness, as well as working in the classroom, gaining specialist knowledge and skills.

You'll be able to take advantage of St Helens College's partnership with St Helens Rugby League Club, putting your new skills into practice, with coaching masterclasses and training sessions.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take two years to complete.

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed through a combination of practicals, presentations, reports and essays.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English, maths and science.

English and maths forms an important part of your future, ensuring you achieve the best success in your chosen career. But don't worry, if you haven't got the desired grades, we will still have a course available for you.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2017), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. For more information, please click here.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon successful completion of this course, you could go onto study FdSc Exercise, Health and Fitness at University Centre St Helens, accredited by prestigious partner University of Chester, or you may wish to study a degree at another university.

Alternatively, you may decide to seek employment and further training as a teacher, personal trainer, gym instructor, gym/leisure centre manager, sports development officer, sports therapist, a coach, physiotherapist, health advisor, sports administrator, or work in the armed services.
