Level 2 Certificate in Barbering

This course is suitable for those who wish to specialise in barbering. You will gain a thorough understanding of how to effectively deliver hair services to men.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course will commence in September 2017, taking 18 weeks to complete. There is the option to attend either one class per week which is 3.00pm - 9.00pm or you can attend two evenings per week which is 6.00pm - 9.00pm.

What will I study?

You will be taught by industry professionals and you will be based in the College's fully equipped, commercial salon, The Lounge. You will learn the theory behind the practices you explore and you will be provided with the confidence needed to launch your career in barbering. In this course the following areas will be covered:

  • Follow Health and Safety practice in the salon
  • Client consultation for hair services
  • Cut men's hair
  • Cut men's facial hair

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed continually with tutors evaluating the work you carry out on fee paying clients.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

No. There are no formal entry requirements but you must have a keen interest in the subject.

What are the course fees?

If you are 19+, course fees are dependent on your personal circumstances and you may be eligible for funding. For more information, please click here.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

This qualification is recognised by the British Barbering Association and The Hairdressing Council and will enable you to progress onto a career as a junior men's hairdresser. Alternatively you could progress onto level 3 NVQ Diploma in Barbering, level 3 Diploma in Barbering (QCF) or level 3 Diploma in Barbering Studies.
