Maintaining Your Summer Garden Short Course

Enjoy the summer and your garden. Caring for your summer garden involves a large range of tasks to keep it looking fabulous. You will learn to appreciate how important general maintenance tasks ensure a long lasting and colourful display which you can appreciate and enjoy.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course takes place on Saturday 17th June 2017, 10.00am - 2.00pm.

The course is held at our Horticulture Base at Sherdley Park. You will need to enrol at our Town Centre Campus prior to starting the course.

What will I study?

Delivered in a mixed format of theory and practical, the course covers:

  • Watering and Feeding plants baskets and containers
  • Feeding of garden plants
  • Weed identification and control
  • Pinching, trimming and deadheading
  • Pest and disease identification and control
  • Supporting
  • Prolonging your display

The course is delivered in a very relaxed manner with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and group discussion.

How is it assessed?

The course is aimed to increase your own knowledge of the subject matter so there will be no formal assessment. A college participation certificate will be issued for those that attend.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

No previous qualifications are required, just a willingness to learn! Outdoor clothing and footwear are required.

What are the course fees?

The cost of the course is £45, which includes all necessary materials and equipment.
