CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) Management Level

Begin to influence strategic business strategy decisions by completing the CIMA Management Level course. Picking up where the Operational Level course finished, the Management Level course takes students through several disciplines and techniques that will help develop the skills required to make medium-term strategic decisions.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course has start dates in September and January on Thursday evenings, taking one year to complete.

What will I study?

Management accounting combines accounting, finance and management with the leading edge techniques needed to drive successful businesses. This Management Level qualification is the second level of the professional qualification and consists of four exams. By passing this level, you will gain the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting.

  • E2 Project and Relationship Management - You will learn how to develop a holistic approach to managing organisations from external and internal perspectives as well as how to implement organisational strategy through people, projects, processes and relationships.

  • P2 Advanced Management Accounting - You will learn how to analyse, plan and manage costs to support the implementation of an organisation's strategy. How to manage and control the performance of business units within an organisation in line with short-term budgets and long-term strategy. 3. Make investment decisions, taking into account the risks related with such decisions.

  • F2 Advanced Financial Reporting - You will learn how to source long-term finance, how to produce and analyse complex aspects of group accounting as well as how to use analysis of financial statements to provide insights about the performance of the business over time.

  • Management Case Study - For this module you will apply the knowledge you have gained in the three subjects to reflect real-life work situations.

CIMA will test a variety of skills including research and analysis, how to present information, and communication skills. The move to more case study assessments has been deliberate to test a wider range of skills and integrated learning across the topics by reflecting real work situations. The case studies consolidate the cross discipline learning at each level.

How is it assessed?

Students must complete all three objective tests within a level before they can sit the case study assessment. The assessments comprise calculations, short answers and essays. Candidates are allowed to see some of the case study information and associated databases before the assessment and will encounter fresh information during the assessment.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have completed the CIMA course at Operational level. Exemptions may be awarded but will be discussed upon application.

What are the course fees?

The total cost of the course is £2122. Additional professional body membership and exam fees will need to be paid direct to CIMA.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon successful completion of this course, you may choose to progress onto the CIMA Strategic Level qualification.

CIMA members are qualified to work across an organisation, not just in finance. In addition to strong accounting fundamentals, CIMA teaches strategic business and management skills.
