Fork Lift Truck Refresher Training

(Counterbalance or Reach)

This course is aimed at personnel who are currently formally trained and have R.T.I.T.B certification or equivalent to operate Counterbalance or Reach forklift trucks up to 5000kg and who wish to refresh their driving skills.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has various delivery dates throughout the year. The course takes 1 day to complete.

This course can be delivered at Northern Logistics Academy's dedicated training centre in St Helens (Langtree Street, St Helens WA9 1AR) or Kirkby (Cherryfield Dr, Kirkby, Liverpool L32 8SA).

The course is delivered to groups depending on minimum numbers mandatory for the course. If required, we are able to set discrete dates for employers upon request.

What will I study?

This operator training course is designed to meet the requirements placed upon employers with regard to their duties under the HEALTH and SAFETY AT WORK ACT 1974; the PROVISION and USE of WORK EQUIPMENT REGULATIONS 1998 (PUWER); the LIFTING OPERATIONS and LIFTING EQUIPMENT REGULATIONS 1998 (LOLER).

Successful candidates will gain a better understanding of current legislation best practice and refresh their skills and ability in the safe use of Counter Balance Fork Trucks up to 5000kg capacity in line with current approved methods and manufacturer's instructions. The course agenda includes:

  • Introduction to the lift truck to be used
  • Operators safety code
  • Controls and instruments
  • Operator assessment
  • Remedial or refresher training
  • Pre-use inspection and take over maintenance
  • Associated knowledge examination
  • Practical test of basic operating skills endorsed by RTITB

Identification

Evidence of existing certification must be produced before attending this course.

On the day of the course please also bring along with you one of the following:

  • A valid passport
  • Driving license

How is it assessed?

This course is both theory and practical based assessments.
