Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Accident Repair (Body)

This course builds on your skills and knowledge of vehicle accident repair, with more of an emphasis on body repair.

Working in our Automotive Hub, you will learn how to remove and refit non-permanent, fixed body panels and exterior body panels while developing your MIG and spot welding skills. There is also an opportunity to explore Mechanical Electrical Trim (MET).

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Health and safety in the automotive environment
  • Supporting job roles in the automotive environment
  • Removing and refitting of non-permanent, fixed motor body panels
  • Removing and refitting of exterior body panels
  • MIG welding
  • Spot welding
  • Knowledge of motor vehicle construction and materials
  • Mechanical Electrical Trim (MET)

We will also support you to find work experience within local automotive companies.

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed in a motor vehicle workshop environment, completing practical and written assessments and online multiple choice tests, in addition to e-portfolio building.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have GCSEs at grade 4 (equivalent to grade C) in English and maths, or a level 1 Motor Vehicle qualification.

Achieving a good standard of English and maths is a key requirement for many jobs, as well as for courses you may wish to progress on to. If you achieve below a grade 4 in your English and/or maths GCSEs at school, you will study it alongside your chosen course when you join us.

If you already have a grade 4 or above in English and/or maths but wish to achieve a higher grade, we can also support you to do this.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2019), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have successfully completed this course, you will have all of the developed skills and knowledge required to gain employment within the industry.

Alternatively, you may choose to progress on to the level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Body Refinishing or level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Refinishing or undertake an apprenticeship to earn while you learn.
