Level 3 BTEC National Extended Certificate in Information Technology

This course forms part of the IT and Business Professional Programme, incorporating A level Business and A level Maths.

Delivered at the A Level Academy, you will explore everything from IT systems and website development to social media in business.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take two years to complete.

What will I study?

During this course, you will study a range of units such as:

  • Information technology systems
  • Creating systems to manage information
  • Using social media in business

You will also have the opportunity to choose from one of the following:

  • Data modelling
  • Website development

In addition to this, you will also cover a broad range of A level Business and A level Maths topics from corporate strategy, accounting, human resources and marketing to how maths is used to make predictions and model real-life situations.

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed based on a range of practical and written work, including both internal and external assessments.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including a grade 4 in English and a grade 5 in maths.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2017), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. For more information, please click here.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have successfully completed the IT and Business Professional Programme, you will have the opportunity to progress onto university, a higher apprenticeship and a career in the IT and Business industries.

This Programme could lead to a wide range of careers such as a Software Engineer, Systems Developer, Business Analyst, Commercial Analyst or Management Consultant.
