Level 1 NCFE Entry to the Uniformed Services

This course provides a thorough introduction to the uniformed services and the career opportunities available to you.

You will improve your physical fitness in our very own gym, sports facilities and the great outdoors, while developing your team working skills and self-discipline.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Investigating employment opportunities in the uniformed services
  • Wellbeing and physical fitness
  • Team working skills
  • Developing self discipline
  • Participating in outdoor adventure activities
  • Health, safety and emergency care
  • Participating in competitive sports

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed through a combination of presentations, practical observations, simulations, written work, poster design and discussions, gaining pass, merit or distinction.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have GCSEs at grade 2 (equivalent to grade E) or above in English and maths.

English and maths forms an important part of your future, ensuring you achieve the best success in your chosen career. As part of your study programme, you will work towards achieving your qualifications in English and maths.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2018), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. For more information, please click here.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have successfully completed this course, you will have the opportunity to progress on to the level 2 NCFE to enhance your skills and knowledge or apply to enter the uniformed services of your choice.
