Level 3 Award in Education and Training

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an introductory teaching qualification that has been developed to give you the opportunity to:

  • Develop knowledge related to teaching and learning
  • Develop skills in teaching and learning
  • Achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification
  • Develop their own personal growth and engagement in teaching and learning
  • Achieving the Level 3 Award in Education and Training will provide sufficient evidence that you have obtained the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare, plan, deliver and evaluate basic teaching and learning sessions in a variety of teaching or training contexts.

This Level 3 course provides a quality learning experience delivered by dedicated full time staff who have extensive experience in the field of teacher training. When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has flexible start and study modes including an evening or afternoon classes taking 6 months to complete.

What will I study?

You will study three modules:

  • Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training
  • Understand Assessment in Education and Training
  • Preparation, Delivery and Assessment of Microteaching

At the end of the unit you will have developed:

  • Knowledge of the role, and its responsibilities in relation to teaching
  • The ability to demonstrate appropriate teaching and learning approaches
  • Skills in session planning
  • Skills to deliver sessions which motivate learners and which are inclusive
  • The ability to use different types of assessment methods

How is it assessed?

Assessment is via a written essay, an online test and the planning and delivery of a 20-minute microteaching session plus a written evaluation of the session.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

There are no formal entry requirements but a good standard of English and IT is necessary as there is a written essay and evaluation (word processed) and the creation of a presentation for the microteaching assessment and an online test.

What are the course fees?

The total cost of this course is £450.

There are a number of flexible payment options available including an interest-free payment plan with a monthly direct debit payment.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Many employers are keen to recruit individuals that have achieved this qualification as it is well respected within the teaching profession. Studying on a teacher training qualification is engaging and rewarding and can lead to a whole range of fulfilling careers.

You may wish to progress onto the Certificate in Education (Education and Training) or our Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (Education and Training) PGCE at University Centre St Helens.
