Megan Vincetta RobinsonA student from University Centre St Helens is in the running to represent the UK for the Miss Universe crown.

Megan Vincetta Robinson, 25, originally from Liverpool, who is studying for her degree in Business at University Centre St Helens, will be one of 40 women competing for the coveted 2017 Miss Universe Great Britain title in Cardiff in July.

Megan was selected for the finals out of 3000 other girls who entered and now has the chance to represent the UK at the prestigious Miss Universe competition in Singapore later this year, which will see 90 countries competing.

In the run up to the competition in July, Megan who now lives in Garswood and also works as a model part-time around her studies will be tasked with a series of challenges and fundraising events. She will be fundraising for B.E. A S.H.E.R.O. Foundation who provide resources needed to support, sustain and empower young girls and women under the age of 25 who have been abused, abandoned, and exploited.

The final will be a three-day event and includes an empowerment day lead by one of the UK's foremost leadership coaches; a celebration dinner with friends and family; and a catwalk show before a panel of judges from the beauty and fashion industry.

Megan, who was talked into entering into the competition by her friend said: “I am really excited to have been chosen as a finalist for Miss Universe Great Britain this year and will be doing all that I can in the next few months to prepare. Miss Universe is one of the biggest pageants in the world and I think it’s going to be a huge adventure as well as a lot of fun."

Commenting on her future career plans as an entrepreneur, like her idols Jessica Alba and Michelle Mone, Megan says studying for her degree in Business at University Centre St Helens is helping her to achieve her ambitions. Megan said: “I hope to use the qualifications I will gain at University Centre St Helens to go on to work in finance or marketing. I hope to one day be able to open my own holistic retreat in the UK and abroad. I've already started my business plan to help me to achieve my goal.”

The winner will be given the opportunity to represent the UK at an exotic overseas location later this year at Miss Universe and will also visit India to support the Sheroes Hangout initiative which helps women who have been the victim of acid attacks.
