Vocational/BTEC courses combine practical, hands-on learning with elements of classroom study and are still as valuable as A levels.

Many students choose this route as they have a strong interest in a particular sector, industry or job and still have the option to progress on to university or a higher apprenticeship.

Once you have received your GCSE results, and have chosen the vocational/BTEC route, it is important to consider which is the right course for you as you’ll only be able to choose one subject area to specialise in. This should be an area that you are keen to apply your knowledge and skills in, and a career that you may want to have in the future.
