Kirk-Newton Henry

English Teacher and Head of Media,
St Helens College 14-16 Academy

Kirk-Newton HenryKirk has over 13 years experience in the teaching industry and has developed a unique teaching style which incorporates elements of his own personal experiences and a creative energy that “is lived and played out in the classroom.”

He began teaching at St Helens College 14-16 Academy having been “attracted to the focused GCSE and vocational environment delivered by a tightly knit team.”

He said, “Students take the opportunity to complete their studies here for the same reason that I joined St Helens College 14-16 Academy; a celebration of the individual’s daily successes and promotion of their aspirations to achieve more than just a target grade but to excel as a fully-rounded individual.”

In addition to his love of teaching, Kirk is also heavily involved with film education charity, Into Film, a UK-wide programme that aims to provide 5-19-year-olds with opportunities to discuss, create and get involved with all aspects of film. Kirk recently represented Into Film at the Digital Education Show in London earlier this year.

Kirk is also an advocate for the education sector with his love for teaching gaining him a feature in the national television campaign, Your Future Their Future. The campaign, which aired late last year featured a range of the country’s most inspiring and passionate classroom teachers, to attract talented individuals into the teaching profession.
