Hannah GrantProgressing from A levels on to study a Law Degree at University.

St Helens College, A level student, Hannah Grant, is delighted to be holding several conditional offers for a place at University this September.

After completing her GCSEs at Kirkby High School, her family recommended the A Level Academy at St Helens College to her as an ideal progression route to help her to achieve her ultimate goal of a degree in Law.

It was through a work experience opportunity at high school that first sparked Hannah's interest in a career in Law. Hannah said, “During school, I completed work experience with a local law firm and since then I realised that’s what I wanted to go into. It’s such a varied and interesting industry to be a part of and I can imagine that no two days will ever be the same.”

She added, "I wanted a new experience and to make new friends in a new environment and the A Level Academy at St Helens College has provided me with exactly that. I have to travel at least an hour and a half from Kirkby Park to get to college each day but the experience and support I receive while I’m there makes it all worthwhile.”

Hannah has since spent the last two years gaining her A levels in Law, Business and Religious Studies, continuously working hard and picking up valuable skills to develop a career in Law.

Hannah commented saying, “I have really enjoyed studying Law, mainly the Criminal Law topics, I find it really interesting and I think it has shown through my work. I was so proud to achieve a grade A in my Involuntary Manslaughter essay, the tutors provided us with a criminal scenario and we then had to apply our legal knowledge to provide a model answer, which I really enjoyed."

Hannah added, “Although studying A levels has been challenging at times, it has also been rewarding. I feel that the A Level Academy has fully prepared me to progress on to my chosen degree at University. I have progressed so much, not just academically but as a person. I have become much more independent and gained the confidence to take me forward in my career.”

Upon completion of her A level studies, Hannah hopes to take up one of her offers and gain a place at either Edge Hill or Liverpool John Moore’s University with a longer term ambition of a training contract with a Law firm to enable her to practice legally as a solicitor.

Hannah said, “I would highly recommend the A Level Academy at St Helens College for anyone who wishes to take the A level study route. If you stay focused and work hard, you will achieve – every class counts!”
