If you are looking to start a career within the floristry industry and are keen to develop your creative flair along with practical, technical floristry skills, then this course is perfect for you.

Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge of different flowers and plants and how to look after them.

You will learn that successful florists need to understand their tools, environment and the all-important finishing touches that make a difference. The course will help you gain an understanding of design principles and the skills needed to apply these to the creation of beautiful floristry products.

You will also gain an understanding of how floristry businesses operate and develop the skills needed to interact with customers and identify their needs.

More information

The course has start dates in September and January and will take one year to complete. You will attend college on Tuesday, from 6.00pm – 9.00pm.

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

This qualification covers the skills you will need to enter the world of work within the floristry industry, or progress to further learning and training.

You will study the following modules:

  • Working in the floristry industry
  • Preparing to create floristry designs
  • Creating floristry designs
  • Customer service
  • Caring for and maintaining floristry products
  • Floristry design principles
  • Health and safety for the land-based industries

You will be assessed by synoptic assignments and theory exams.

You must also complete the mandatory employer involvement requirement before successfully achieving this qualification.

You should have at least four GCSEs at grade 4 (equivalent to grade C) or above in English and maths.

This is a professional floristry qualification and applicants must be prepared to undertake 150 hours industry experience as part of this qualification.

Once you have successfully completed this qualification you could choose to complete a top-up to achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Floristry.
