Based in our commercial salon, you will have an exciting opportunity to provide a range of treatments such as eyelash and brow treatments, facial skincare, waxing, manicures, and pedicures to paying clients.

First-class client care and customer service play a key role in ensuring a professional and enjoyable salon experience.

This course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

This course will take place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Follow health and safety practice in the salon
  • Client care and communication in beauty related industries
  • Provide manicure treatments
  • Provide pedicure treatments
  • Apply makeup
  • Provide eyelash and brow treatments
  • Provide facial skincare
  • Remove hair using waxing techniques
  • Salon reception duties
  • Apply skin tanning techniques
  • Display stock to promote sales in a salon
  • Instruction on makeup application
  • Provide nail art
You will be assessed throughout the course by a combination of practical assessments, written assignments, end of module exams and portfolio building.
You should have four GCSEs at grade 3 (equivalent to grade D) or above, including English and maths.
The course fee is £1,368. You may be eligible for funding depending on your personal circumstances and subject to a fee assessment during the enrolment process. For further details, visit our dedicated Adult Financial support page.

Once you have completed this course, you will be able to progress on to one of the following:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Treatments
  • Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology
  • Level 3 Diploma in Makeup Artistry

Alternatively, you may want to gain employment as a Beauty Receptionist, Makeup Consultant, Sales Representative or become self-employed.

Additional Information

As part of this programme you are required to wear a uniform. There is also a kit required to complete your assessments which can be purchased from a recommended supplier. You may be eligible for financial support to cover these costs.
