Music Production

During this course, you will explore what it takes to succeed in the music industry while developing your experience of using the latest industry software used by global professionals.

You will learn everything from sequencing, producing a recording and composing for visual media to investigating digital and mobile music technology and music products.

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Working in the music industry
  • Professional development in the music industry
  • Planning and creating a music product
  • Exploring computer systems used by musicians
  • Producing a musical recording
  • Investigating an area of music

You will be assessed through a number of practical and theoretical assignments, recordings and task analysis. There is also a final production project.

You should have three GCSEs at grade 3 or above.

Achieving a good standard of English and maths is a key requirement for many jobs, as well as for courses you may wish to progress on to. If you achieve below a grade 4 in your English and maths GCSEs at school, you will study it alongside your course when you join us.

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2024), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. Once you have completed this course, you will have the opportunity to progress on to the level 3 Foundation Diploma in Music Performance or Music Production, to enhance your skills and knowledge.

In the future, when you are ready to start your career, the variety of job roles is vast, offering everything from Live Sound Engineer to Studio Technician.
