Discover the many ways writing can improve your wellbeing, enhance your creative writing skills, and learn how to write therapeutically.

During this course, you will cover a wide range of exciting topics, delving into the themes and ideas commonly found in contemporary poetry. You will also explore how reading and writing poetry can aid your wellbeing, including how to release your feelings into your writing to create powerful and emotive work.

This course has various dates throughout the year and takes 6 weeks to complete.

The course takes place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

Topics covered will include:

  • Poetry for wellbeing
  • Themes and ideas in poetry
  • How to write therapeutically
  • Steps into publishing

There is no assessment.

You don’t need any formal qualifications to start this course.

This course is free to study providing you do not hold a grade 4 or above at GCSE English level.

After completing this course, you may choose to progress on to GCSE English or Functional Skills English to gain a recognised qualification whilst improving your skills and knowledge.
