Level 2 Mechanical Engineering

With this course you’ll be working in our industry-standard engineering workshops, learning all of the skills and knowledge you need to work successfully in the industry.

You’ll study engineering principles and techniques, as well as computer aided design, milling and turning.

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

This course will take place at our The STEM Centre, Technology Campus, Pocket Nook Street, St Helens, WA9 1TT.

During this course you will cover the following units:

  • Engineering environmental awareness
  • Engineering techniques
  • Engineering principles
  • Machining principles
  • CAD (Computer Aided Design)

You will be assessed through a combination of assignments and one external examination.

You need a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and/or maths.

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2025), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. You could progress on to the level 3 Technical Extended Diploma in Engineering or on to an apprenticeship to earn while you learn.
