University Centre St Helens
Your Guide to Clearing

What is Clearing?

Clearing is a final opportunity for you to secure a place on a degree, starting in September 2019.

You will be able to apply through Clearing if you:

  • Have results which are not quite as high as expected, meaning you do not meet the conditions of entry for either your firm or insurance choice
  • Have not made a UCAS application to study at a higher education institution this year
  • Have not received or have not accepted any offers
  • Do not have a firm or insurance choice place confirmed
  • Are looking to leave another university completely and transfer to University Centre St Helens

When does Clearing begin?

Clearing opens on Monday 1st July for those who already have exam results or hold no offers.

For everyone else, Clearing officially opens on A level results day, Thursday 15th August.

Clearing closes mid-September 2019.

As Clearing is now open, you can call the University Centre St Helens Admissions team, who will guide you through the process, helping you to submit your application for September 2019 entry. The Clearing hotline is available Monday to Thursday, 8.45am – 5.00pm and Friday 8.45am – 4.30pm, in the run up to A level results day with extra times after this date. For full details of our Clearing Hotline, visit our dedicated section.

For more information and advice on the Clearing process, please visit the official UCAS website.

Already applied through UCAS?

If you have already applied to study at university, using the UCAS process, you can check UCAS Track to see if you are eligible for Clearing. UCAS will not send you anything in the post to tell you if you are eligible, so it is important that you check online.

If you are eligible for Clearing, an 'Add Clearing Choice' button will appear on your ‘Track Choices' screen, allowing you to apply for a place at University Centre St Helens, using institution code S51.

Not yet applied through UCAS?

If you haven't applied to UCAS for a university place at all this year, you can call our Clearing hotline on 0800 027 1221 to secure your place.
