Travel and Tourism

This course is a great introduction to the travel and tourism industry.

You will explore the importance of customer service and the role of an overseas resort representative. You will also have the opportunity to gain insight from experienced industry guest speakers and go on exciting trips to enhance your learning.

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

This course will cover the following units:

  • Aviation health and safety
  • Security
  • Communication
  • Check-in, boarding, and arrivals services
  • Baggage processing, loading and unloading baggage, and baggage facilities
  • Load instruction reports
  • Aircraft marshalling
  • Support flight operations
  • Dispatch

You will be assessed through a combination of role plays, short answer questions, assignment writing, power point presentations and story boards.

You should have three GCSEs at grade 3 or above.

Achieving a good standard of English and maths is a key requirement for many jobs, as well as for courses you may wish to progress on to. If you achieve below a grade 4 in your English and maths GCSEs at school, you will study it alongside your course when you join us.

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2024), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. Once you have completed this course, you could progress to the level 3 Diploma in Aviation Operations or the level 2 Diploma in Cabin Crew.

You will have the necessary skills and knowledge to work in an airport ground handling company including dispatch, checking in, and boarding passengers.
