Throughout this advanced course, you will gain specialist knowledge and skills in music production, using the latest industry software and equipment, to prepare you for degree level study and a career in the industry.

You will work on your own personal projects such as creating an album or EP and will also work collaboratively with others to plan and promote your own live music event.

Our successful Music Technology alumna, Lauren, completed this course and progressed on to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts to study Music, Theatre & Entertainment Management at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. She is now a Digital Marketing and Executive Assistant at Bold Management in Liverpool!

The course will start in September and will take two years to complete.

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Live sound
  • Studio recording techniques
  • Music and sound for media
  • Music technology project
  • Music technology in context
  • DAW production
  • Music technology enterprise opportunities
  • Creative synthesis and sampling
  • Composing music
  • Remixing and reworking
  • Music technology in performance
  • Mixing and mastering techniques
  • Commercial music production
  • Music technology and musicianship

You will be assessed through assignment work and tutorials and practical productions both individual and group based.

You should have four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English or maths.

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2024), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. Once you have completed this course, you will have gained all of the crucial skills, knowledge and experience to progress to university!

Previous students have studied degrees such as music production, sound engineering or music performance.

Alternatively, you may choose to launch your music career in the industry.
