This course will allow you to learn how to recreate your favourite biscuits and pastries.

The course will provide a strong foundation to build your culinary flair and provide tips to ensure making food is a fun and enjoyable past time.

You will explore quick and versatile methods in preparing and cooking pastry dishes and biscuits. This course will provide you with a small collection of recipes that you can recreate at home for special occasions or just a well-earned treat.

This course is due to start on Tuesday 29th April 2025. You will attend college on Tuesday evening from 6.00pm – 9.00pm, for four weeks.

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

The course will explore the tools required for specific culinary tasks, the selection of ingredients, the methods required in the preparation and cooking, as well as the art of presenting pastry dishes and biscuits to impress.

The programme provide you with new skills in culinary techniques and encourage you to develop creative culinary ideas.

There is no formal assessment. You will be given feedback based on your progress with suggestions and guidance for areas for improvement.

As with all our leisure courses, the main emphasis is to come and enjoy!

There are no formal entry requirements. The course is suitable for all levels of ability.

You will need to wear strong, flat sensible shoes and bring along an apron, tea towel, and an oven glove.

Please bring along a container to take what you have made home with you.

You may be eligible for funding if you have not recently participated in a similar programme, or received any other recent government funded training.

There are a number of fee options for this course including:

  • If you are unemployed – FREE
  • If you are employed – £30
  • If you are not eligible for funding – £120

The course price is inclusive of all the ingredients that you will need for each session.

You may wish to progress onto an accredited qualification in this subject, which will allow you to practice your skills in the industry.
