Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business ACCA


This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

The Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business combines the Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills parts of the full ACCA qualification, along with the Ethics and Professional Skills module. This qualification will help you to build a successful career as a finance professional in any sector, as you will become a part-qualified accountant.

The course will allow you to develop the theoretical and practical knowledge required for finance professionals and introduces accounting principles, the function of financial information and core managerial issues.

During the course you will gain a strong understanding of the essential technical accounting skills and the modern corporations' legal framework. You will also develop evaluation skills and the ability to impart sound commercial advice and recommendations as a finance professional.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take two years to complete.

The course takes place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA0 1PP.

What will I study?

You will study a number of modules which will help you on your journey to become Chartered in the field of Accounting, including:

  • Professional Ethics
  • Corporate and Business Law
  • Performance Management
  • Taxation
  • Financial Reporting
  • Audit and Assurance
  • Financial Management

How is it assessed?

The course is assessed by examinations, which require a 50% pass mark.

All exams are computer based.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have completed the level 4 AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting, or an equivalent qualification.

If you have previously completed level 4 AAT or a degree in Accounting and Finance, you may be exempt from certain exams.

Work experience in this industry is not a requirement but would help with your understanding of the course materials.

What are the course fees?

The cost of this course is £5,800. More information on course fees will be provided upon application.

There are a number of payment options including an interest-free payment plan with a monthly direct debit payment.

In addition to the course fee you are required to book your own exams, which are approximately £120.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have completed the course you can progress in your career in accounting or finance.

Alternatively, you may choose to continue your studies and complete the Strategic Professional level, to achieve the full ACCA Qualification. After completing the full ACCA Qualification along with 3 years of working experience you can then apply for ACCA membership and become an ACCA Chartered Accountant.
