Level 1 Diploma in Plastering (Adult Course)


This course provides an excellent introduction to the world of plastering within the construction industry.

You'll explore a range of building methods and construction technology, developing skills in wet plastering and dry lining. You'll learn how to prepare surfaces, mix plaster materials and apply and set plaster coats.

This course is suitable for plasterers who want to achieve a formal qualification or for those looking for a career change.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The September 2021 course is now full, however, additional courses may run throughout the year.

The course will take one year to complete and you will attend College on Monday and Wednesday evening, from 6.00pm - 9.00pm.

The course takes place at St Helens College, STEM Centre Campus, St Helens, WA9 1TT.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Applying plaster materials to internal backgrounds
  • Forming sand and cement screeds
  • Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
  • Knowledge of construction technology
  • Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
  • Preparing background surfaces and plaster materials
  • Producing components from moulds

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed by a range of practical and online assessments.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You do not need any formal qualifications, just passion and a commitment to your studies.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have successfully completed this course, you could progress on to the level 2 Diploma in Plastering to enhance your skills and knowledge.
