Level 2 Certificate Introducing Caring for Children and Young People

This qualification is for new practitioners who are looking to begin working in a rewarding career with children. The course teaches crucial knowledge that is required to care for children and young people, that meets national standards set in the UK.

During the course, you will study a range of topics covering childcare and education, parenting responsibilities, learning, child development and play.

Distance learning allows you to study wherever you are, arranging your studies around your work or home life. You will learn using study materials and online learning resources but you will also have the opportunity to connect with other students on your course.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has flexible start dates throughout the year and should take approximately one academic year to complete.

The flexibility of the course allows you to learn at your own pace and is estimated to take up to 135 study hours to complete.

What will I study?

You will increase your knowledge of a range of areas surrounding caring for children and young people. Units covered, include:

  • Caring for young children in a babysitting environment
  • Accident prevention and fire safety when babysitting
  • Rights and responsibilities in relation to parenting
  • Parenting and healthy lifestyles

Access to a computer, email and the internet is vital as all units will be completed online.

How is it assessed?

This is an online distance learning course which is assessed through a series of online assessments.

Full tutor support will be provided by the College throughout the course and you will be able to contact your tutor via telephone and email.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

No previous qualifications are necessary, although some basic computer skills are required.

This course is suitable for anyone who is already working or looking to secure a role in this industry or wishing to progress onto further education.
