Creative Writing


This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

This course is ideal for learners who are looking to get started with creative writing.

During the course you will develop the skills needed to feel confident in improving your writing skills.

You will be taught in a supportive and Covid safe environment to ensure you fulfil your potential.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has flexible start dates and will take four weeks to complete.

There are a variety of study options with both day and evening classes available.

The course takes place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

What will I study?

The course involves lots of creative writing prompts and exercises to help learners have fun and to explore if they would like to take their creative writing further.

How is it assessed?

There is no formal assessment required to complete this course.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You don't need any previous qualifications to undertake this course. This course is available to adults who are not currently undertaking English/maths study at the college.

What are the course fees?

This course is free to study, providing you don't already hold a grade 4 (equivalent to grade C) or above at GCSE level in this subject.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have completed this course you could choose to progress on to a functional skills or GCSE English course.
