The prevalence of diseases that are associated with physical inactivity and poor lifestyle behaviours, such as obesity, cardiovascular disease and diabetes, continue to be major concerns impacting upon the health of the nation. The role of physical activity and exercise as well as encouraging other healthy lifestyle choices is central to addressing these conditions and improving population health.

Our FdSc Exercise, Health and Fitness covers a diverse range of topics that influence health, fitness and wellbeing. It examines the effect of lifestyle choices on health such as nutrition as well as how physical, psychological and environmental determinants can influence lifestyle choices.

Strategies that can be used to shape positive behaviour change will be detailed and the degree will teach you how to effectively prescribe exercise to improve fitness and to manage health and well-being.

As a student on this degree, you will study a range of modules from anatomy, exercise physiology, exercise psychology to nutrition and public health promotion, alongside additional, stand-alone qualifications in fitness instructing and personal training that will enhance your career opportunities within the health and fitness industry.
