Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Dental Nursing

This advanced course is designed to prepare you for an exciting career in dentistry.

Based in an established dental practice, you will provide support during a range of dental treatments in addition to learning about restorative dentistry, prosthesis, endodontics, extraction and infection control.

This course is validated by the General Dental Council, which ensures that your learning is of the highest professional standard, ready for when you enter the industry.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course starts in September and will take up to two years to complete.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Health and safety
  • First aid and medical emergency
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Decontamination procedure
  • Infection control
  • Assessment of oral health
  • Radiography
  • Restorative dentistry
  • Prosthesis
  • Endodontics
  • Extraction and minor oral surgery

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed through portfolio building, tutor observation and assignments.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have GCSEs at grade 4 (equivalent to grade C) or above, including English, maths and one science subject.

If you already have a grade 4 or above in English and/or maths but wish to achieve a higher grade, we can support you to do this alongside your course.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2020), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have successfully completed this course, you will be able to register with the General Dental Council (GDC).
