Mental Health Awareness (Level 1)


This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

This introductory course will raise your awareness and understanding of mental health, promoting a more positive approach, and enabling you to challenge the negative attitudes and stereotyping that discourages some people from seeking the appropriate help and support they need.

This course is ideal for those currently working or hoping to start a career in a health care profession. This course is also suitable for anyone who has an interest or would like to gain a better understanding of the causes, effects, and management of various mental health conditions.

This course can be delivered remotely online, in the classroom or by blended learning. Courses can also be delivered as part of packages, depending on your goals. More information can be provided on enquiry or at enrolment.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has flexible start dates throughout the year.

The flexibility of the course allows you to learn at your own pace and is estimated to take up to 20 hours to complete.

  • Stress
  • Dementia
  • Depression
  • Mental wellbeing

How is it assessed?

This course can be completed through online learning, classroom based learning, or both (blended learning). Achievement of the course is through completion of a workbook.

Full tutor support will be provided throughout the course and you will be able to contact your tutor via telephone and email.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

No previous qualifications are necessary. This course is suitable for anyone that is looking to progress on to an accredited course.

What are the course fees?

Our courses are FREE of charge, if you are aged 19 or over, and are claiming a relevant means tested benefit, or are working and earning under £18,525 per year.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a nationally recognised qualification and a certificate of achievement by CACHE NCFE.

This course provides fantastic progression on to a range of health and social care courses depending on your goals. Your tutor will discuss this with you at the end of your course.
